A Brief History

Kids for Tomorrow was just an idea in 2006 and a hope to help one school and the students in Kenya get access to a better education.  I wanted to bring the information and knowledge back from Kenya to the schools here in the states and try to bridge a gap.  We started with one school, focusing our attention on the students, getting them sponsored and working with the community members to think of a sustainable future. In the next year we brought on a new project in a neighboring slum and started working with the community members and students their as well.  Since inception I have personally gone twice a year to Kenya to form relationships with the school administrators, teachers and students.  I and members of the board have personally had our hands in the soil helping to build the schools and really became in tune with the needs of the schools.  We have helped one school move locations to accommodate their size, purchased a plot of land for the other school to build temporary structures, and avoid the headaches of rent and landlords.  We now support a program in Phnom Penh that has changed our thinking process on our other two projects.  This program in Cambodia works using scheduled milestones, outlining the greatest needs and shows us where the community members will help where we can not.  We adopted this model with our two projects in Kenya and have seen a great change, we are now supporting teachers salaries-to avoid losing teachers for lack of pay, students supplies, food and water, and for one school the continued payment of rent.  We are hoping to purchase land for Sewa Junior Academy so they to can have the freedom that Hope Streams now has.  We hope to continue our efforts with Hope Streams and Sewa Junior Academy till each school is seeing their students through primary and secondary schools and on to college.  We see a sustainable future lies within these students and their education.
