Derek Evans

Mr. Evans is a managing partner, as well as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for FIC Capital, Inc. He is responsible for corporate strategy, financial planning and analysis, marketing, business development and ensuring operational effectiveness. Derek also actively supports the investment research functions and assists in managing client relationships.

Prior to joining FIC Capital in 2007, Mr. Evans was a Principal at kasina, a strategy consulting firm serving the asset management sector.  Having joined kasina only one year after its formation in 1999, Mr. Evans had a major role in building the start-up venture into a viable and successful business entity.  kasina’s current client list includes several global leaders and represents over $8 trillion in assets under management. His latest roles included heading the overall consulting practice, managing a number of the key client relationships, overseeing and publishing numerous research reports, and leading the company’s employee education and growth initiatives.  He also served as a speaker and panelist at several industry conferences, and was often sought by industry publications for comment on relevant issues.

While attending NYU’s Stern School of Business, Mr. Evans worked directly with the COO of an e-Commerce start-up (Netgen) in the financial services industry and in the Financial Planning and Analysis department of AlliedSignal (now Honeywell), where he developed business analysis tools, operational models, and initiated marketing programs.  Before attending business school, Mr. Evans spent four years with ERM, a leading environmental consulting firm.

Derek graduated with Highest Honors from Colgate University in 1992. He was a merit-based scholarship recipient at Pennsylvania State University and NYU’s Stern School of Business, where he received a M.S. (1995) and M.B.A (2000), respectively. At Stern, Derek majored in Finance and Information Technology.

In addition to his business endeavors, Mr. Evans is active in socially responsible initiatives that are both local and global in scope.  Prior to joining Kids for Tomorrow, Mr. Evans most recently co-founded the kasina Youth Foundation, served as Benefit Committee Member for DreamYard, and tutored children for the “I Have a Dream” Foundation.
