Lyle Owerko

Lyle Owerko is a photographer and filmmaker.

Known for his perception and knowledge of urban movements, Lyle’s instinctively crafted visual images occupy an indelible place in the lexicon of pop culture and journalism. On a morning that will stay with him forever, Lyle photographed the image that appeared on the cover of Time Magazines September 11, 2001 issue. He has been widely published in Magazines and books around the world including National Geographic, Newsweek, Der Spiegel, as well as features on his work done by NPR and ABC Nightline. His current projects bridge perceptual borders to document tribal groups and fringe societies with the aim to better understand the human condition. Lyle is represented by Art Galleries both in the USA and Europe, with work hanging in many notable collections. He was raised in Calgary, Canada, studied at The Pratt Institute in New York and currently resides as a long time resident of Tribeca in lower Manhattan.
