Our first project is the students and school of Hope Streams Academy. A small primary school in a slum outside of Karen which is a suburb of Nairobi, Kenya. There are 148 attending students from preschool to 5th grade, they have seven teachers who are payed a very small fee. The school is run by a group organized by the community to support education in the slum, they have volunteered their time and money to run and manage the school with the little means they have available. Our focus is to sponsor these children to attend this school which will provide books, supplies, uniforms and school fees. In 2008, thanks to your support, we were able to purchase a plot of land which is run by Hope Streams Academy. This land enables the community and members supporting the school to move forward, without the worry of rent, and focus their attention on the students and teachers of Hope Streams.
